Everyone is writing and saying about Microsoft releasing new ipod killer but I came to an interesting piece of opinion from darkmane a newsvine user.He writes in his column:
So, as I began to Photoshop the most recent images of the “Microsoft iPod Killer” I noticed something, there is no EXIF information, none. This may mean several things, either it is a film picture scanned in, someone is covering their tracks because either this is a total mock up or they are worried about their job.
That made me look at the picture again. First, there is no background, it looks very much like a product shot. The screen is blank, perfect for putting any image they wanted on there, although a pure green screen would have been better. Or it could be a total Photoshop job, based off of the uber-blurry images from a month or so ago.
The more I think about it the more convinced I am that there will not be an iPod killer this Christmas. We’re only 5 months out from the Holiday Season (longest time of the year), and there has been no official announcement. How long did people know about the Xbox before it came out? Do any of the images look like the “sleek elegant design” (copy of Dells small for factor) of the XBox 360.
In addition, the controls are wrong. Here is the image. Look at the screen, it looks like it is 16:9, but the controls are oriented wrong for viewing video, you’d be looking at them sideways if you were watching video, because all video formats we have now are wider than they are long.
Anyway, I think it’s a hoax. I really doubt Microsoft will be competing against itself by launching another music service less than year after Urge. The idea is enticing because a majority of the computer industry wants to see Apple as a bumbling idiot savant company on the verge of going out of business (for the past 20 years), not as a successful hardware company.
So no ipod killer soon.
